  • The Office

Lately, a lot of people have been telling me that I can be part of the show "The Office." They find me humorous. Too bad I don't like that show.

Anyway, I realize every time I move somewhere for an extended amount of time subconsciously I just think it is a long vacation. When I moved to Santa Barbara for undergrad I packed 1 towel and 10 hangers. 1 towel and 10 hangers is not going to last me 4 years. At least it made moving the following two years easier.

I bought all cheap furniture and well my apartment looks very spare here in Michigan. I decided to spice it up with some decor. I am still going to avoid buying a television because I am absolutely positive that I will be far from Michigan in three years. Not going to waste 200 bucks on something I can't take with me.

Like in the game The Sims, nice decor adds to heighten the mood. =]

  • A Miracle

Being a biology major and now an almost done first year medical student I have to say I think it is a miracle we are all alive and well.

First off it is actually not easy to conceive a child. I forget the statistics but it is pretty hard. It has to happen in a 24-48 time interval every month and well the sperm has to go through many obstacles then the little ball of cells have to be able to travel from the fallopian tubes to the uterus to be implanted properly, etc.

In addition, there are so many ways something can go wrong in our bodies. It is insane.

    We are miracles! Let's celebrate!

  • Things I've Learned

    From being far from home.

Depend on yourself! - I realize people are selfish and it takes a true friend who will be there for you when you really need it. Making a true friend takes time.

People are fake! - Yes they may be nice to your face but they usually are selfish. Also they are flakes. Don't take what people say so literally. "Oh we should totally go there!" And you get all excited but then they never mention it again or they push it back when you mention it again.

People aren't always what you expect - I actually have two friends who when I first met them I thought they didn't like me. I also met this nice and friendly girl when I first arrived. I spent a lot of time with her. In the end she toss me aside when she didn't need me anymore.

When things don't go your way or you are down on your luck take some time to deal with it but move on. Life is a long journey with detours.

  • Money

It is interesting what people spend their money on. I for one, am somewhat frugal especially seeing how expensive my tuition is but I feel like I have always been like this. I don't like spending my parent's money when I see how hard they work for it.

Anyway, I go on a mini shopping spree every couple of months. Spree here is around $200-300 and mind you I don't buy any clothes besides the spree. I buy a couple clothing items I feel like I really need. Last break I bought myself some more dress clothes. I have my three week externship in the summer which means I need to have at least a 7 nice/professional tops. I also found a cute pilot hat that I can wear during the winters here.

Most of you know I don't mind spending money on food, especially if its good food. I don't go out and eat out a lot so I think its justified. I usually buy groceries and cook so I save a lot there. I also don't like to buy random nick-nacks. I feel like they take up space as do books. I don't like having books unless I know I will be reading it more than once.

Oh I like expensive creams. I want to look young forever!

Anyway, what do you spend your money on?

  • Spring Break

I am currently on my spring break. It is so relaxing to have nothing to worry about. I realized that Michigan is not lack of good food but just lack of good Asian food. So far I really like Middle Eastern food. I love shawarmas! They are so flavorful and delicious. I also tried Middle Eastern desserts. I haven't completely gotten used to it yet but I am going to try to go again. I also need to check out Slow's BBQ which was on the Food Network. Some of the nicer places I have been to aren't too bad. Hibachi is pretty good there too but I feel like it is a mainstream thing. Also last Tuesday was Fat Tuesday! It is really an eye-opener to learn about other cultures. All I am exposed to here in California are Asian cultures. Anyway, I tried a Pączki. So fatty!

So far since being back in the bay I have had Pho, Malaysian, and Ramen. Yum Yum. I also did a lot of damage during shopping. Woot Woot. I haven't really bought anything since Christmas. I got a nice top that was on sale at Banana. I need to start buying more work clothes since third year I will be on rotations everyday which means I need to dress nice all the freaking time. For a while, I have been trying to avoid buying a cover for my iphone but I dropped it at the gym so from then I have been super paranoid. I got a pink bumper. Yay! I got a cheap summer outfit from this cheap Forever 21 like store. No returns. Forever 21 sure is busy. Nothing good in my size. I can't wait for summer. I am sick of the cold already and wearing a bulky jacket all the time.

I need to buy a couple more items though. Good thing I came home to Chinese New Year money. =]
